The Best and Worst of the 2014 Met Gala
The Met Costume Institute Gala is highly regarded as one of the most fashionable events of the year, every year. The 2014 event was no different.
The theme was White Tie and Decorations in tribute to Charles James whose "Beyond Fashion" exhibit is on display at The Met through August.
As usual, there were some really great fashion hits, and some really big fashion misses. Here's my take...
THE BEST
David and Victoria Beckham
When are the Beckhams NOT the best dressed? I adore white dinner jackets, and David Beckham is rocking it. And, Victoria is looking quite Posh (see what I did there?) as well. Her dress is simple, but stunning and from her signature collection.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
Aren't they the cutest? Ryan knows his girl looks good. Blake and Ryan, much like the Beckhams, rarely take a fashion misstep. Both clad in Gucci, the two were right on point for the Gala.
Emma Stone
Emma Stone is such a delight. She seems like someone I could totally be friends with. Her Gala ensemble is fun and flirty and totally on trend with the crop top. And, she and Rachel McAdams are the only two people I "know" who can rock red, blonde, or brunette hair. I'm jealous.
THE WORST
The Olsen Twins
Mary Kate and Ashley are usually fairly fashionable, but these dresses look like men's overcoats gone wrong. And, they're WAY too big for their petite frames.
Lena Dunham
Lena Dunham is a lovely and hilarious person, but I haven't been able to get behind any of her fashion choices. This straight, strapless neckline is not flattering, and despite the hi-lo hem being on trend, I have never been a huge fan. I'm rooting for Lena to find something fabulous for her next event.
Kate Upton
Kate Upton is one of the most beautiful women in the world, but this dress is just too much. The corset, the headpiece, the neckline...it's not working.
I also loved Selena Gomez, Arizona Muse, and Sarah Jessica Parker and disliked Shailene Woodley and Rita Orr.
What about you? Do you agree with my choices? Who would you put on the best and worst lists?
